Fundraising   DESERT YOUNG MARINES   The Desert Young Marines is the Glendale-based local unit of the national Young Marines organization. The program focuses on character building through a combination of self-discipline, teamwork and leadership, and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.     The support you provide for today’s youth will help develop responsible, disciplined adults of tomorrow.  The Desert Young Marines is the Glendale-based local unit of the national Young Marines organization.  The Young Marines are a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 youth education program for boys and girls ages 8 through high school.  The program focuses on character building through a combination of self-discipline, teamwork and leadership, and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.  Our Young Marines participate in many activities in your community such as community service projects, Color Guard performances and parades.  We also are given opportunities to allow our youth to participate in summer programs such as Space Academy, Civil War Adventures, Revolutionary War Encampments and nationally sponsored Leadership schools.  These programs provide an educational and enjoyable experience for our youth as well as a vast understanding of our Nations history.  These are opportunities of a lifetime that our unit would like to pass on to our youth as some may never have the opportunity again. Because many of our young members are considered low-income and/or at-risk and our unit is not-for profit, we come to you looking for any assistance that you may provide.  The unit conducts fund-raising activities throughout the year such as car washes, donations and recycling programs.  Due to the recent popularity and growth of our unit, the expense of these programs and assisting our youth with uniforms and equipment has become costly.  If your budget allows, please consider contributing to Desert Young Marines to support our local, regional and national encampments, educational programs and training opportunities.  Examples of donations received in the past are gift cards, items for raffles, event room space for functions, office & printing supplies, marketing services and of course monetary gifts.
